At OfficeTeam, campaigns were the heartbeat of the marketing function, and delivering them well meant being across every format, every channel and every deadline simultaneously. As Head of Design I worked closely with the leads of various marketing disciplines to take campaigns from concept through to execution, ensuring creative and messaging were always pulling in the same direction.
Campaigns typically spanned email, landing pages, social, direct mail and print, often running in parallel across multiple brands within the group. Beyond the day-to-day campaign work, I led the creative on tender bids for major clients including NHS, John Lewis, Virgin, WHSmith, Tommy Hilfiger and Zara, high-stakes collateral where the design had to do serious commercial work and where winning was the only measure that mattered.
Managing a team of in-house, offshore and freelance designers meant the creative output never stopped, and giving sign-off across that volume of work while maintaining a consistent standard across multiple brands was as much about process and creative leadership as it was about design.
